Film enthusiasts can anticipate an exciting lineup this month, and we’ve compiled a list of 10 films set to release across different platforms in September.
1. Jawan: Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated second film of 2023, Jawan, is scheduled to hit theaters on September 7th in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. Directed by Atlee, this upcoming action thriller features an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, and Sunil Grover. Deepika Padukone also makes a special appearance in the movie. Leading up to its release, the film’s team has already unveiled three songs: Zinda Banda, Chaleya, and Not Ramaiya Vastvaiya.

2. Jaane Jaan: Kareena Kapoor’s debut film on OTT, Jaane Jaan, is set to be released on September 21st, which also happens to be her birthday. This Netflix movie, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, is described as a murder mystery and features actors Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat in prominent roles. In the initial teaser, we see Kareena in a natural look, portraying the character of a mother. Jaane Jaan is set in Kalimpong and serves as the official adaptation of Keigo Higashino’s bestselling novel, Devotion of Suspect X.
3. Salaar: Prabhas is gearing up for the release of “Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire,” featuring Shruti Haasan. Directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, “Salaar” is set to premiere in theaters on September 28th. The film will be available in five languages: Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi.
4: The Vaccine War: Vivek Agnihotri’s movie, “The Vaccine War,” is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 28th. The film stars Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Sapthami Gowda, and Raima Sen. “The Vaccine War” is expected to delve into various aspects of Indian bio-scientists and indigenous vaccines, shedding light on previously unexplored narratives. 5. Kushi: The film starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Deverakonda is set to hit theaters on September 1st in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Titled “Kushi,” this movie has been written and directed by Shiva Nirvana and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. In addition to the lead pair, the film also features Jayaram, Sachin Khedakar, Murali Sharma, Lakshmi, Ali, Rohini, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna, Srikanth Iyengar, and Saranya. The trailer of the film introduces Aaradhya and Viplav, taking the audience on their romantic journey and creating a relatable yet enchanting world of romance at the heart of the narrative.
6. Haddi: Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s upcoming film, “Haddi,” is set to premiere on ZEE5 on September 7th. Directed by first-time filmmaker Akshat Ajay Sharma, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Adamya Bhalla, “Haddi” is a revenge drama. The movie delves into a gritty and complex tale of revenge, skillfully unraveling the intricate web of criminal activity in the capital city. Alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film stars Anurag Kashyap, Ila Arun, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Saurabh Sachdeva in significant roles. It’s produced by Zee Studios, in collaboration with Sanjay Saha and Radhika Nanda’s Anandita Studios.
7. The Great Indian Family: The forthcoming family entertainer featuring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chillar has been named “The Great Indian Family.” Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, this film is scheduled for release on September 22nd. The story is set in rural India and centers around the chaos that erupts in Vicky’s family in response to unforeseen events that are beyond anyone’s control.
8. Sukhee: Shilpa Shetty’s upcoming film is set to premiere in theaters on September 22nd. Titled as a “fun entertainer,” this movie marks the directorial debut of Sonal Joshi and is produced by T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment. Shilpa Shetty will take on the role of Sukhpreet ‘Sukhee’ Kalra in the film. The cast also includes Kusha Kapila, Dilnaz Irani, Pavleen Gujral, Chaitannya Choudhry, and Amit Sadh.
9. The Nun 2: The sequel to “The Nun,” starring Taissa Farmiga, is scheduled for release on September 8th. The movie’s storyline unfolds in 1956, following a brutal priest murder in France. According to the official logline, the film centers on “Sister Irene” (played by Taissa) as she confronts the demonic entity Valak once again. Taissa Farmiga returns to the role, alongside Bonnie Aarons and Jonas Bloquet reprising their characters as Valak and Maurice “Frenchie.” The film is directed by Michael Chaves.
10. Friday Night Plan: The film starring Babil Khan is set to premiere on Netflix on September 1st. In this movie, Juhi Chawla takes on the role of Babil’s mother. The cast also includes Amrith Jayan, Aadhya Anand, Medha Rana, and Ninad Kamat. Directed by Vatsal Neelakantan, the film is produced by Excel Entertainment. Within the movie, Babil Khan plays the role of the nerdy older brother, with Amrith Jayan brilliantly portraying his mischievous younger brother. Together, they form an unstoppable duo, ready to take on the coolest and most happening party of the year.
